Winner of the Community Group Award in the Environment Excellence Awards presented at EcoFiesta 2005 by Townsville City Council was Conservation Volunteers Australia for their work in habitat restoration of the Town Common. Accepting the award from Townsville Mayor and Deputy Mayor Cr Tony Mooney and Cr Ann Bunnell was (l-r) Evan Kruckow, David Bailey and Peter Adams.
