Mundingburra State School picked up a special mention in the the Primary School category of the Townsville City Council Environment Excellence Awards presented at Eco Fiesta. The school was represented by students Aaron Douglas, William Simpson, Joels Spadinger.

Hermit Park State School was the winner in the Primary School Category of the Townsville City Council Environment Excellence Awards presented at EcoFiesta 2005. Winner of the Community Group Award in the Environment Excellence Awards presented at EcoFiesta 2005 by Townsville City Council was Conservation Volunteers Australia for their work in habitat restoration of the Town Common. Accepting the award from Townsville Mayor and Deputy Mayor Cr Tony Mooney and Cr Ann Bunnell was (l-r) Evan Kruckow, David Bailey and Peter Adams.

An eco-tourism venture and a development company were named joint winners in this year’s Townsville City Council Environmental Excellence and Sustainability Awards at Eco Fiesta.

Magnetic Island Sea Kayaks and the Flanagan Consulting Group/Australian Property Development Corporation collected the, ‘Sustainability in Business Award.’

Mike Schmidt represented Magnetic Island in accepting a Community Group commendation for developing a catchment environment management control plan for Gustav Ck on Magnetic Island from Townsville Mayor Cr Tony Mooney and Deputy Mayor Cr Ann Bunnell. The Environment Excellence Awards were presented at EcoFiesta 2005 by Townsville City Council.
